Things to do in Ayr/Ayrshire

Ayrshire boasts 80 miles of unspoiled coastal scenery, superb sporting and recreational facilities and some of Scotland's most historical sights. There's truly something for everyone.

Ayrshire GolfGolf holds a special appeal for many of our guests, eager to test their skills on our two championship courses (Royal Troon and Turnberry) and the others nearby. April's Scottish Grand National is another great sporting occasion, and the highlight of Ayr Racecourse's annual programme. More Info »

Isle of ArranFor the history-lover, Ayrshire is steeped in the past: from Bronze Age standing stones to some of the UK's best-preserved castles, such as Culzean – often described as the 'Jewel in the Crown' of the National Trust for Scotland. Ayrshire's also the birthplace of world-renowned poet Robert Burns. You can visit his cottage within Burns National Park, the picturesque Brig O' Doon – or make a date for the Burns an' a' that! Festival in May.

Nature lovers will adore Ayr. From granite mountains to the sheltered waters of the Firth of Clyde, walkers, cyclists, fishing and sailing enthusiasts alike will find much to treasure. A trip to the Isle of Arran is a must: its incredible landscapes encapsulate the whole range of Scottish scenery in one location.

This is just a taste of what Ayr has to offer, and what a stay at Inverlea opens up to you. Please get in touch with us for more information, and to enquire about rates and local attractions.
